Finding the Home in the Fantasy, Video Essay, 11’, NUIG - 2019

This thesis is a film-based research video demonstrating how the fantasy, as a space, as aesthetics and narrative, plays a role in children in conflict zones. The children are sent away from their home, family and familiar environment in order to be safe. The problem is: they do not feel safe. And so, this magical non-space appears for them full of magical creatures, where they can manipulate time and death. But the children soon discover that fantasy has obstacles as well, challenges and monsters. Fantasy will soon mirror reality bringing the children back to it.
